Bringing Essential Health Services to Rural Communities: Highlights from the Kahe Magharibi Outreach.”

Rural Health Access Initiatives (RHAI) successfully conducted a community health outreach on 28 February 2026 in Kahe Magharibi Ward, reaching 124 community members across all age groups. The outreach aimed to improve access to essential preventive health services, detect diseases early, and support vulnerable populations with immediate interventions.

The outreach brought together healthcare professionals, community health workers, and local leaders to deliver a range of services including health screening, nutrition assessment, counselling, and referrals.

Blood Pressure Screening During Community Health Outreach

A community member receives a blood pressure check during the RHAI community health outreach in Kahe Magharibi Ward. The outreach successfully served 124 community members, enabling early detection of health conditions including 23 cases of hypertension and 10 suspected cases of diabetes or prediabetes, while also identifying high-risk pregnant women who required closer medical attention. Participants received counselling, nutritional support, deworming medication, and referrals for further care helping strengthen disease prevention and maternal health awareness in the community.

Rural Health Access Initiatives (RHAI) conducted a community outreach program aimed at improving access to healthcare services for residents in Kahe Magharibi Ward. The outreach offered screening for common health conditions, health counselling, and immediate support for individuals requiring urgent attention.
Participants who required additional care were referred to nearby health facilities for further medical evaluation and treatment. Through these services, the outreach helped strengthen community awareness, promote preventive healthcare, and ensure vulnerable individuals receive timely medical assistance.

Under the clear skies of Kahe Magharibi, RHAI CEO Wiliam Kisima addressed community members, CHWs, and village leaders in an open-air session. With 20 participants gathered, the meeting emphasized collaboration and inclusivity in tackling pressing health priorities. Discussions highlighted maternal health support, child nutrition, NCD screening, disability inclusion, HIV/AIDS awareness, and family planning. This grassroots dialogue reflects RHAI’s vision of building resilient health systems by empowering local voices and ensuring that every community member is part of the journey toward better health.
