On 3rd April 2026, Community Health Workers (CHWs) in Kahe Magharibi, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania conducted a quarterly reporting and data validation session covering January–March 2026, alongside routine monthly data collection activities. This initiative was led by Rural Health Access Initiatives in collaboration with Mangi Health Center and under the technical supervision of Dr. Dellivina Molla.
The activity forms part of RHAI’s broader strategy to strengthen community health systems through improved data quality, accountability, and integration between community and facility-based services. By equipping CHWs with the tools and supervision needed for accurate reporting, the program enhances real-time decision-making, resource allocation, and targeted interventions.
This approach contributes to measurable improvements in primary health care delivery, particularly for underserved populations, including mothers, children, and individuals with limited access to health services in rural Tanzania. RHAI continues to invest in scalable, community-led solutions and welcomes partnerships to expand the reach and impact of data-driven health interventions.

Rural Health Access Initiatives (RHAI) successfully conducted a community health outreach on 28 February 2026 in Kahe Magharibi Ward, reaching 124 community members across all age groups. The outreach aimed to improve access to essential preventive health services, detect diseases early, and support vulnerable populations with immediate interventions. Blood Pressure Screening During Community Health Outreach
A community member receives a blood pressure check during the RHAI community health outreach in Kahe Magharibi Ward. The outreach successfully served 124 community members, enabling early detection of health conditions including 23 cases of hypertension and 10 suspected cases of diabetes or prediabetes, while also identifying high-risk pregnant women who required closer medical attention. Participants received counselling, nutritional support, deworming medication, and referrals for further care helping strengthen disease prevention and maternal health awareness in the community. Rural Health Access Initiatives (RHAI) conducted a community outreach program aimed at improving access to healthcare services for residents in Kahe Magharibi Ward. The outreach offered screening for common health conditions, health counselling, and immediate support for individuals requiring urgent attention. Participants who required additional care were referred to nearby health facilities for further medical evaluation and treatment. Through these services, the outreach helped strengthen community awareness, promote preventive healthcare, and ensure vulnerable individuals receive timely medical assistance.

Our outreach in Njiapanda Ward screened 175 adults and 30 children for nutrition and NCD risk factors. The charts below summarize the findings:
Adult Nutrition (BMI): 54% were overweight or obese, while 10% were underweight.
Blood Pressure: 76% showed hypertension or elevated BP, with 9% in hypertensive crisis.
Blood Glucose (RBG): 31% had abnormal glucose levels (high or low).
Child Nutrition (MUAC): 53% of children showed signs of acute malnutrition (SAM/MAM).
These results highlight the urgent need for nutrition education, early detection, and community-based interventions. Data drives our action, and compassion drives our impact.

Today, we were privileged to host an inspiring and productive meeting with physiotherapy experts and nurses from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. We shared updates on the impactful work of Rural Health Access Initiatives (RHAI) at the session, along with rich sharing of knowledge on community health, physiotherapy, and rural outreach.
This discussion underlined the commitment to community health services development from both sides and created the spirit of collaboration, which we hope will further develop between Rotterdam University and RHAI.

We had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring and highly productive seminar with physiotherapy experts and nurses from the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. During the session, we shared comprehensive updates on the impactful work being carried out by Rural Health Access Initiatives (RHAI), highlighting our efforts in strengthening community health services and rural outreach.
The meeting also created a valuable space for rich knowledge exchange. Participants discussed key insights on community health challenges, physiotherapy practices in low-resource settings, and innovative approaches to supporting rural populations. The contributions from our colleagues at Rotterdam University were particularly enlightening, helping to broaden perspectives and strengthen the foundation for future collaboration.
Overall, the seminar fostered a spirit of partnership, learning, and mutual support reinforcing our shared commitment to improving health outcomes in underserved communities.
